Competencies

Critical Thinking

This is one of the must-have competencies in today’s world. You need to think critically about a situation to tackle it and act wisely. It is a necessary element in qualitative education and professional workplace as well. And it is also developed in both places.

Critical thinking in classroom: University courses have helped me a lot to develop the critical thinking skill. Be it an essay, report, micro-analysis or a product proposal, critical thinking is required to do complex and analytical tasks. It is time-consuming at first to think critically but the more you do it, the better you get at it. Please refer to the attachment below.

Critical thinking at workplace: I sometimes have to apply critical thinking skill at my workplace too when I have to prioritize some tasks over the bunch of others. I deal with a whole lot of different customers and they all have different attitudes and requirements and I must think quickly and deeply how to handle them. Sometimes, I have to think critically to deal with an impatient customer.

Artifact: Attached below is the research outline assignment which I did in a higher education course at KPU (EDUC 1150) with Professor Dianne Simmons. I have had to research a topic and come up with scholarly sources to provide a number of pros and cons. I wasn’t a great analyzer but this assignment made me think critically about a subject. I did a deep analysis of some journal articles and with this thought process, I developed my critical thinking skills. Besides, I collaborated with other people of different backgrounds. I also learned the consequences of plagiarism and the importance of giving proper credits.
